Typically a class will begin with a warm up session in order to get our joints mobile and the muscles warmed by increased blood flow. Often this will include some ‘traditional’ exercises to improve our flexibility and strength.
Next we commence basic movements, often combining them in new ways so as to extend each individual’s capabilities, be they a beginner or experiences member. some basics are executed individually and some with partners.
TaeKwonDo is known for its variety of kicks, so depending upon a student’s current grade, various kicking combinations will be practiced along with appropriate block techniques. Similarly with hand techniques, combining them with the many kicks.
Self defense is an important part of our training in the Art of TaeKwondo, so individual scenarios are often discussed and solutions practiced from our patterns or elsewhere as appropriate to each grade.
