Furthering our education as instructors is important if we are to avoid stagnation in our own development and thus the development of our students. Obtaining qualifications should be second to the gaining of skills and knowledge, but having a recognised qualification shows the community and the Martial Arts Industry that you are serious about providing the best instruction for members of Rhee Tae Kwon-Do. At a minimum, all instructors should have a basic first aid qualification from a recognised provider such as St John Ambulance, the Red Cross or other Registered Training organisation (RTO). Instructors must also have a valid Victorian Working With Children Check.

Although not specific to Tae Kwon-Do, the following suggestions will enhance your understanding of the mind and body and thus your ability to instruct safely. Course material is easily adapted from “coaching” a sports competitor to “instructing” a martial artist as the basic premise is obtaining the best from the student, whether the goal be to compete with others or ourself.
